Liverpool 1-1 Everton FA Cup

by admin on Jan.25, 2009, under Sport

A very emotional game for both Liverpool and for Everton.  While the Premiership title was not on the fence here, it was important that Liverpool show its dominance over their neighbours, especially at Anfield.  The game started with Liverpool having the majority of the posession, however as we all know possesion means nothing, is always about the final score.  Late into the second half Lescott was able to get a lucky header to put Everton 0-1 ahead of the leaders.

Steve GerrardLiverpool knew that they could not lose this local derby, especially at home.  About 70 minutes into the game Torres nicely flicked the ball into the 18 yard box and Gerrard in true style slipped into the goal to equal the game.

The game ended 1-1.

It was by no means a boring game but was not a game of the potential Premiership winners.

The big question this year is whether Liverpool will have the staminar to finish off teams like Chelsea and Manchester United, especially as Man Utd are on a hot streak at the moment?  My prediction is Liverpool to win it, however I know that Man Utd are a very strong team and will finish strong.

For all you Yanks who do not know about football, that is real football, it is the game that is hundreds of years old where real world champions are crowned, not world champions of the USA.  I know there is going to be recourse here!!!
